Boots – Get Active with the Girls

The Get Active with the Girls campaign helps Boots colleagues and customers to feel good, as well as complement and support the Boots charity partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.
Four high profile female athletes support the campaign, swimmers Hannah Miley and Jo Jackson, track cyclist Jess Varnish and Paralympic track and field sprinter Sophia Warner. They are working to actively encourage women to get fit, stay healthy and feel good.

This Girl Can Nottingham - Female mentoring project

Very Berry worked with Nottingham City Council on a female mentoring initiative that paired up like minded women. The group consisting of experienced female coaches and deliverers were gathered together with the intention of using their knowledge and experiences to help mentor other females, many just starting out in their journey, with the aspiration to get more females active.

Each mentor was paired up with a suitable mentee and through a combination of one to one sessions, training courses and support through the group, mentees have been provided with the guidance, encouragement and advice to develop themselves, many highlighting the impact that the support has given them.

"I feel like I'm moving forward, like the ideas I dreamt of are actually happening."

Mentors have also found the whole process very rewarding, not only an opportunity to give something back but also a chance to re-evaluate and improve their own delivery.

"It helped me to re-evaluate who I am as an instructor and where I want to be. It has also helped me to be more humble. There are a lot of people out there wanting to live their dream and it is very important that I support these people just the same way that people supported me."

And the journey doesn't end there, the group and pairs will continue to support each other through a variety of platforms, helping each other continually improve.
