Ridewise win the Shape up Notts! Workplace Challenge
In June this year, Sport Nottinghamshire launched the Shape up Notts! Workplace Challenge across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to find the county's fittest businesses with four prizes totalling £8,000 up for grabs.
The teams at Ridewise, Nottingham Land Registry & Agathos Systems and are now officially the fittest and most environmentally friendly in the city and county after winning the Challenge.
The Challenge, which finished at the end of October saw businesses from across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire battle it out for the top spot by swapping their cars for bikes and changing their lifestyle habits to become more active. Competitors from each company gained points for the amount of CO2 they saved, as well as for the amount of exercise they did.

In the average point’s category, cycling group Ridewise pedalled their way to the top spot. They also finished first in the total CO2 category, saving a huge 4056.44kgs of CO2.
Ridewise plan to use their £4,000 prize money to build on the success of the Challenge and are offering a package worth over £500 each for eight small and medium sized companies who want to help get their staff cycling to and from work and, if it's feasible, when on company business.
Gary Smerdon-White of Ridewise commented: "As strong advocates of cycling, we want to use our prize money to get more people cycling, especially to commute to work and to keep fit so that they are more effective in the workplace. It is our aim to get more people cycling more often and, most importantly, more safely."
In the first instance, the offer from Ridewise is open to SMEs, on a first come first served basis, who were registered for the Workplace Challenge. However if the full offer is not taken up within a month, Ridewise will work with partners to promote the package more widely.
